Royal Cornwall Show

This year’s Royal Cornwall Show was once again the biggest event in the Cornish calendar packed with everything agricultural - as well as entertainment, animals, food, farmers, forestry and so much more. From a trade perspective we were delighted to be there first hand to offer advice to anyone from agricultural engineers, farmers to general engineers and show them the different options from air compressor technology through to heat recovery.

Of all process resources in the dairy sector, compressed air is potentially the most common. It’s used in a host of process applications, including product handling, cooling, and pasteurisation. Unfortunately, oil and liquids can seep through worn seals, posing a threat to consumer health, and imposing crippling fines upon the manufacturer if not detected before sale.

BOGE have used the technology in their EO Scroll compressor range to eliminate the need for oil altogether.  The EO Scroll compressor’s whisper quiet technology and low-vibration operates with one or more scroll compressors.  Each scroll air-end consists of two nested spirals, one of which is stationary and the other is moved eccentrically (orbiting) on a circular path. The spirals keep a minimum distance from each other and form with each revolution two constantly smaller chambers. As a result, the air is sucked in from the outside, compressed inside the pump and discharged through a connection in the middle of the spiral, producing pulsation free compressed air without the requirement for oil or lubricant.

Removing oil from the compression stage is a major step forward when trying to eliminate containment from a dairy’s compressed air network. BOGE’s range of oil-free compressors can be used across the broader food and drink processing and packaging sectors, including the SO series of oil-free, easy to maintain screw compressors.  Both the EO and SO series operate without lubricants, guaranteeing 100% oil-free air compression acc. to class 0 for sensitive downstream processes.

At the Royal Cornwall Show, BOGE’s Duotherm, our heat recovery system, impressed the judges and we were delighted to win a Commended Award in the Machinery Competition. Both new and older machines can easily be equipped with BOGE Duotherm, significantly improving levels of energy efficiency. With the positive impact from an environmental perspective and praise of our presentation, it was a further endorsement that for agriculture, BOGE’s technology is commendable choice.
