Constant compressed air supply with added efficiency

The challenge
GER4TECH relies on compressed air for almost all of its processes and production areas, with demand for metal processing fluctuating considerably. Idling and energy consumption must be minimised as far as possible during low demand phases.

The BOGE solution
BOGE has provided the company with two screw compressors, two refrigerant compressed air dryers and a type C 25 F compressor. They adjust the volumetric flow rate to the actual demand, thereby successfully saving energy. Additionally, soft starts and stops conserve the material and prolong the device’s service life. Besides that, GER4TECH recovers waste heat from the compressors for use all year-round for other processes.

    Whether simple sheet metal parts, complex assemblies or complete machine parts, GER4TECH GmbH offers solutions for automated production processes in metal processing – from laser cutting and chamfering to machining and welding. In GER4TECH’s Metal & Mechatronics Center in Redlham (Austria) opened in 2019, the company’s 75 employees need compressed air in practically every production area. The supply is guaranteed by BOGE with three screw compressors located in their very own compressor room.

     

    Two type SLF 75-3 oil lubricated screw compressors with a performance of 55 kW cover the base load, with two refrigerant compressed air dryers providing a constant pressure dew point at each operating stage. A type C 25 F compressor with refrigerant dryer covers the reduced demand over the weekends. As a result, GER4TECH benefits from maximum plant efficiency, high availability of over 95 per cent and optimum yields. These are guaranteed thanks to the proven airend with high free air delivery at low power demands, a perfected oil separation system with horizontal receiver and demand-based operation. The plant is designed perfectly for metal processing with heavily fluctuating compressed air demands.

     

    Improved efficiency thanks to intelligent heat recovery

    Heat produced by the compressors is transferred into one of three buffer tanks where it is used to heat process and hot water, meaning GER4TECH can recover over 70 per cent of the energy it uses. In summer, this covers the entire hot water demand, and during the winter it provides additional support for the company’s wood chip and gas heating system. BOGE took responsibility for the entire interface management in order to implement these energy saving measures. Certified BOGE technicians are available around the clock for the regular maintenance and technical assistance for the overall system.
